All the holy temples are located in the high altitude of northern Himalayas which make them closed for winters due to heavy snowfall. Please try to reach or start your tour before 08-09 AM to take full advantage of your first day. We pick you up from New Delhi airport/railway station/hotel in the morning and take you straight to Haridwar. The route is plain and not having any sight in-between so try to take only one break for breakfast. Next you can stop at Om Pul in Haridwar or drive straight to the hotel for check-in. Wake up early, get refreshed, and have a cup of tea/coffee and get your packed food for breakfast. Start by 5 AM to Janki Chatti with the magnificent views of Yamuna River and the Uttarkashi valley. The route will also cover serene Himalayan towns named Rana Chatti, Sayana Chatti, Phool Chatti, Hanuman Chatti and then you arrive at Janki Chatti which is the base for Yamunotri trek. The cab will drop you at Janki Chatti and you will need to trek ahead for 7 km to access the Yamunotri Dham. You can hire horses/doli/pitthu from Janki Chatti to eliminate the trek difficulties, but this seven km trek is very serene along the Yamuna River and worth every step.
Full-day trek and meals on your own. As you arrive at Yamunotri Dham you'll find a natural hot water pond (Taptkund) in which you can take a dip to wash your body and soul. The hot bath will leave you pleased and ready to blessed by having a darshan of the idol of Goddes Yamuna at Yamunotri Dham Temple which is the source of the great river Yamuna. The Yamuna river comes from Bandarpoonch Glaciar and the snow-clad Himalayan peaks visible from Yamunotri temple are Bandarpoonch Group of Himalayan peaks. Wake up early, get refreshed, and have a cup of tea/coffee and get your packed food for breakfast. Start by 5 AM from Uttarkashi to reach Gangotri by noon, the road is very narrow at some points which creates Jam situation during crowd. This route will pass through some Himalayan towns named Maneri, Gangnani, Harshil, and Lanka along with Bhagirathi River and the Uttarkashi valley which renders different and scenic views of Bhagirathi river with the snow-clad Himalayas. The first stop we take at Maneri Lake for 5 min photography and then we hit the break at Harshil. Tasting local fruits and drinks at Harshil and some photography shouldn't take more than 15 mins. Next we take one more stop at Lanka Bridge before we reach Gangotri Dham. Lanka Bridge is a very high elevation bridge built over Bhagirathi river and a glimps from the bridge to down will give the proof. Next we witness the Lanka Valley from the windows and reach at Gangotri Dham.
The noon arrives, de-board the cab and walk for a half km to reach the main Gangotri temple. Gangotri temple is easily accessible by a brisk walk and weelchairs are also available for physically challenge persons. Discover divine banks of Bhagirathi River, Bhagirath Ghat, and revered Gangotri Dham, do worship and take blessings of Maa Gangotri. After leaving from Uttarkashi we follow the Bhagirathi river which leads us to Tehri Dam and we find Bhilangana River at Tehri Dam which dissolves in Bhagirathi river at Tehri Dam which can be called a Sangam too. From Tehri we follow the Rudraprayag route which takes us Kirti Nagar and from here we drive opposite to Alaknada river upto Rudraprayag Sangam. Lunch can be planned at Srinagar before Rudraprayag. Investigate the divine confluenct of Alaknanda and Mandakini River and the river remains Alaknanda after the Sangam. Post exploration we follow Mandakini River which comes from Kedarnath to reach Guptkashi via witnessing Agastmuni and Kund from the windows. The evening arrives in Guptkashi/Phata, get check-in to the hotel. The evening enjoys nature/city walks around your hotel and is free for your leisure. Wake up early and get refreshed. There are two mediums to reach the Kedarnath temple ie by road and by air. Please find the below details for both mediums.
By Road: If you are planning to reach the Kedarnath temple by road then your cab will take you to Sonprayag. In the high season (May/June) there is much rush on this road from Guptkashi to Sonprayag which has a distance of 30 km. Sometimes this distance takes more than 03 hours to reach Sonprayag.
So, leaving early from Guptkashi/Phata for Sonprayag will be a good idea. From Sonprayag you will need to take local cab for Gaurikund, which is 05 km ahead of Sonprayag. Gaurikund is the base for the Kedarnath trek. You can hire horses/doli/pitthu from Gaurikund for Kedarnath. It is a 21 km trek which takes around 8-10 hours to reach to the temple for a normal person. This breautiful treks gives breathtaking views of Garhwal Himalayas, tall waterfalls, and the trek goes along the shore of divine Mandakini river. The trek has many stalls, shops, and medical facillities along the route. Once you reach Kedarnath, get check-in into the hotel. Take some rest, explore Bheem Shila, Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi Sthal, Mandakini River and have darshan of Shri Kedarnath Ji on your own. Having dinner and overnight stay at Kedarnath.
By Air: You can also choose to explore Kedarnath by Helicopter services. Helicopter services are time-saving and give you an amazing birds-eye view of the snow-clad Himalayan peaks behind the Kedarnath temple but requires an early and advance reservation. If you choose to access the Kedarnath temple by Heli services then the cab will take you to Helipad from where you will do all the formalities and will take off for Kedarnath.
